The Services
Trento’s “Giovane Europa” Youth Hostel is situated in the historical town centre in a building that was recently restored, just a short distance from the railway station and bus terminus, near Piazza Duomo.
Annual opening
- 32 rooms with 1 to 6 beds each.
- Summer entertainment, games, games for children, family packages, family discounts, group discounts, organisation of concerts for orchestras, choirs, and musical groups, twinning and sporting get-aways.
- The restaurant is available to school groups visiting the city’s museums, for them to eat packed lunches (this service is charged for and booking is essential).
The city of Trento
Trento is a city of art and history, and is the point at which Italian and Central European cultures meet. This Roman city was also the city of the Tridentine Council (1545-1563). Its monuments make up a heritage of art and history that has been built up over the centuries by the combination of the two cultures - Italian and Nordic – which can still be distinguished in the variety of Architectural styles.
The Castello del Buonconsiglio (the home for centuries of the Prince Bishops of Trento), the Cathedral with its beautiful Piazza, the houses with their frescoes, the Churches of the Council, museums, and exhibitions, are all worth a visit.
The University is important as well as the prestigious, advanced research institutes, such as: The OECD Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development centre, Microsoft’s European Centre, Trentino’s Cultural Institute, the Alpine Ecological Centre, the San Michele all'Adige Agrarian Institute and the FIAT Research Centre.
The city is also home to numerous events: The “Trento mountain, exploration, and adventure film festival” that takes place in May, the Economy Festival, Traditions dating back to the renaissance with historical processions and “Feste Vigiliane” challenges in June, as well as the typical Autumn and Christmas markets. The city’s numerous museums offer art exhibitions and very popular temporary exhibitions.
